ROBBERS DON'T THREATEN YOU CLOSE BY WITH A GUN!

"Robbers/criminals don't do that because it's a ranged weapon."

So, therefore all gun disarming/other techniques are bullsh*t and stupid to begin with. This is something I hear it regularly...so, I just want to focus on the first assumption. I'm not going into the gun disarming subject for now.

I have study numerous real situations (CCTV + interviews/training real victims). My philosophy is that real effective self-defense must start from the real question. You need to know what the real danger is. So, real violence/attack + context must be the starting point for your self-defense/defense/self-protection constructions (simplistic view).

So, why would a robber threaten a victim up close by with a gun? Just to mention a few points:

🧿 Robbers need to control their victim, steering their movements, intimidate, restrict their possibilities to escape, arming, etc.
🧿 Robberies are also influenced by narrow surroundings and environmental objects.
🧿 Most robbers want to hide their gun/intentions from passing bystanders.

📍 Gun threats come in different shapes (variable distances, positions, angles, dynamics, etc.)...so, I am not saying they only threaten up close by. I'm trying to make a point.
